How can I improve website page speed?

We are told that our website page speed should be under the 3 second area since it is part of the signals that the Google algorithm factors into its ranking parameters.

Pages with longer load speeds have been shown to have higher bounce rates, lower time on page and less conversions.

Fast WordPress Hosting Provider: Start by using a FAST web hosting provider in the internet. There are many to choose from. Solid state drives provide faster load times.

Pingdom: Test load speed for websites using Pingdom for load times.

Gzip: One can use gzip software applications ( Gzip  has a general public license and published by Free Software Foundation) to reduce the size of ones’ CSS, HTML and JavaScript files. We are warned not to use it on image files.

Images: Compress using Photoshop where you can control the quality of the image. Optimize images so they are not larger than they need to be. PNGs are better for graphics with fewer than 16 colors. JPEGs are better for photographs.

Redirects: Redirects makes your page load slower.
